 Students receive a study guide packet when they register for a training. This packet includes study guide, practice test and activity sheets.  These materials motivate and teach the students the basics of food safety. When they attend the training day, they learn detailed information of the importance of food safety and their role in preventing food borne illness. 

PAPER OR ELECTRONIC? WE HAVE TWO OPTIONS OF EXAM TYPES FOR STUDENTS TO CHOOSE.

 How do I register for a Class + Exam session?

  •    Click "Reserve your SEAT"

How far in advance should I register?

  • We ask 15 days in advance to ensure exams are received for training.

What do I bring to training and exam session?

  • All students that are registered to take the Food Manager Certification Exam will need to bring a current government issued photo ID such as a driver’s license or government issued passport.


How Long is the training class?

  •  Typically you are in the training class for 5 hours including exam.

Why is this class shorter than other classes I researched?

  • Study materials are given at registration so our training is a 4hour fast track. ​

HOW LONG IS THE EXAM?

 Each student is given a time of 2 hours to complete the exam.

What is included in the Classroom Training and Certification Exam option?

 Classroom training is highly recommended and usually the most effective way to prepare for the exam. Our most popular training and certification package is $145 and it includes:

  • Study Guide
  • Classroom Training
  • Exam

CAN I USE MY NOTES DURING THE EXAM?

  No, this is a closed book exam.  

HOW LONG UNTIL I KNOW MY EXAM RESULTS?

 

  • A paper exam result takes up to 4 weeks. 
  • An online exam result you know immediately after submitting it for grading.

What score do I need to get to pass the exam?

 

  •  75% is Passing.  
  • There are anywhere from 80-90 questions of the Food Manager Exam.   

 

What if I fail the exam?   

  • Students can take the exam 4 times a year if they fail

IF I WORK MORE THAN ONE PLACE DOES MY CERTIFICATION COUNT AT MY 2ND JOB?

 Once you are certified and listed as a certified person in charge at one food establishment, you can NOT be listed as the PIC at another place. This means that you can show your certificate at both places, but can only be listed with health department as PIC at one place.  

CAN I CHALLENGE THE EXAM AND NOT TAKE TRAINING?

Each state requires a number of training hours prior to taking the exam.

 If a student challenges the exam and fails, they will be required to sit in a training class prior to retaking the exam.   

 

WHO NEEDS THIS TRAINING?

Everyone who is working in a food establishment that is a person in charge. Anyone who runs a shift by them self or in charge of a shift. 

This PIC must work at least 30 hours a week and be there 80% of the time.

WEBINAR CLASSES: ONLINE OPTION

Do You need a food safety manager certificate but don’t have time to come to a seated class?

  • Register for an Online Course
  • When completed: You will need to e-mail or call to set a date, time,and location you wish to take your exam.
  • You have the option to test at the next class exam session.

Does Meal Mentors offer private on-site classes?

Yes, we can have our instructor come on-site to your company. Many of our clients prefer this option because of the convenience of having a class catered to fit their work schedule.

Do you offer corporate discounts?

Yes, if your company certifies several employees a year, please contact our office and we will determine if you qualify for a corporate discount. Please email us at mealmentors@gmail.com
